Restoring Hope: Our Impact at Meegahakiwula National School

At Hope is Better Inc., we believe in the power of action and the importance of putting “others before ourselves”. Following the devastating floods caused by Cyclone Ditwha, our organization recognized an urgent need to support displaced families and restore critical educational infrastructure.
We are proud to share that our donation of USD 2,000 (Rs. 615,000) has successfully funded the complete re-establishment of the Media Unit at Meegahakiwula National School in the Badulla District.
Turning Funding into Action
Through our partnership with the “Ape Dansala” Community Service Project, we ensured that every dollar was used to provide students with professional-grade tools. This project has replaced essential equipment lost in the disaster, allowing the school’s media unit to become fully operational once again.
The newly established unit includes:
Professional Audio Monitoring: Three RCF monitor speakers and ten high-quality headphones.
PA and Broadcasting Systems: A 120W PA amplifier with FM/USB capabilities and a “True Diversity” two-antenna system.
Studio Infrastructure: A suite of six microphones, metal microphone stands, and professional speaker stands.
A Commitment to Transparency
We recently received a formal report confirming the successful completion of this project. We are pleased to share the gratitude expressed by the project coordinators on the ground:
“We extend our sincere gratitude for your generous support and kindness rendered for the families displaced by the severe floods… We hope it clearly demonstrates the proper use of your generous donation.”
For the students at Meegahakiwula National School, this is more than just new equipment—it is a restored opportunity to learn, create, and communicate. At Hope is Better Inc., we remain dedicated to rebuilding communities and ensuring that education remains a priority, even in the wake of a crisis.
